I bet you heard the name of Duolingo at least once before. Because it is one of the most popular language apps around the world. They are managing their marketing process pretty well to make sure everyone is hearing Duolingo.

To be honest, this app is not just an advertisement success. Duolingo has effective features that help people to learn another language easily with its gamification model. Currently, it has more than 100 million users.

Duolingo has more than 30 languages available in its library for English speakers. It offers courses for other language speakers as well, like German, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, French, etc.

Duolingo is free but it also offers In-App purchases. The app is available on iOS and Android. You can download it from the links below.

The second spot of the best language learning apps goes for Memrise. This app has a different method for teaching. Memrise is showing you videos from native speakers. This method helps you to understand how the language that you are trying to learn actually sounds.

Memrise is good at helping you memorize vocabulary, characters, phrases, and more as well. The app uses two more things besides videos of native speakers. These are memes from your favorite movies or games, and gamification.

Memrise is free but it also offers In-App purchases. The app is available on iOS and Android. You can download it from the links below.

Busuu, like other similar apps on this list, starts to teach a new language by giving you the basics of the language you want to learn. The app gives you individual words and dialogues. Plus, you can listen to these dialogues from native speakers.

Busuu is pretty handy for the ones who are planning to travel abroad. Because each course includes a travel part in it. This feature is giving you the basics that you need to know before you land in a foreign country.

This app has 12 complete language courses. Busuu also offers feedback from native speakers about your learning process. In addition to this, you are having accent training as well. The app has much more than these features that I can’t mention them all here.

Busuu is free but it also offers In-App purchases. The app is available on iOS and Android. You can download it from the links below.

Babbel has 14 languages in its library. You can take 40 classes from these 14 languages for free. To tell you the truth, this is not enough to speak a new language fluently. But it is definitely enough to learn the basics of a new language.

As a note, Babbel is not highly engaging. Because the app focuses on teaching you the language with high-quality materials rather than focusing on gamification. I am not sure if you are going to take this feature as a con.

Since I am more likely to have fun learning new things, it was a disadvantage for me. What I am trying to say is it depends on your learning style.

Babbel is free but it also offers In-App purchases. The app is available on iOS and Android. You can download it from the links below.
