We have plenty of external factors or false daily practices that are a thief to our energy and performance level. Most of the time we reach the end of the day only to find that the day went by but we didn’t get anything done. We didn’t manage to do sport, eat proper food, or work enough hours. Simply we couldn’t cross out anything from our to-do list.

The secret is to use time wisely, after all, Einstein didn’t have more hours in the day than you have. The key is to make the most of your time, and once you have followed these 8 tips to increase your productivity you will be amazed at how much you can get done in one day. So let’s get started:

  1. Take Care Of Your Mood
  2. Turn Off Notifications
  3. Plan Your Work
  4. Take A Warm Bath Before Sleep
  5. Take Regular Breaks
  6. Cool Off Your Mind With A Walk
  7. Give Some Time To Family Or Close People
  8. Stop Overthinking

1-Take Care Of Your Mood

Your mood is the determiner of how much you will be productive throughout the day. If you wake up loaded with negative energy or repeating bad scenarios in your mind, you can’t expect to get any work done. You will be losing most of your energy because of anxiety, confusion, and anger. And each task will take double the time to be done.

while there is no formula to maintain positive vibes day in day out. You can follow some strategies that help you shift your focus from any negative situation you are facing. For example, at work, if conflicts affect your mood drastically then try to stabilize things. Maintain positive vibes and distance in your relationship with those you have to interact with continuously.

Qnother technique is to listen to music that motivates you, and by the way, music has a huge effect on our mood, there are types of songs that drag sadness and anger to us. Avoid them. Find a new playlist, try something neutral or something that can generate better vibes. I always suggest listening to Lo-Fi Beats, it is a medicine for mood and focus!

Extra Tips To Take Care Of Your Mood:

  • Have a healthy breakfast! Eating pastries and sugary things early in the morning will lead you to more hunger and food intake. On the other hand there are some types of food that can increase your productivity, this is why it is highly recommended for you to start with a healthy meal, and definitely don’t start with coffee on an empty stomach.
  • Don’t get into sterile conversations and don’t overthink things that you can’t control in the minute. You are only stealing your peace of mind.
  • And last but not least get enough hours of sleep.

These small steps have a huge impact on your mood and following them can tremendously increase your productivity level.

2-Turn Off Notifications

If you are working and your friends’ groups keep sending texts, then surely your focus level will deteriorate!

Moreover, all the notifications coming from applications to push you either to complete a purchase or to level up in a game have a direct impact on why you are not able to stay productive during the day.

Put your phone on silent and put it aside to increase your productivity. Checking your phone too often is a main factor of losing concentration. You can check it during lunch break or after working hours. But not while doing essential tasks.

3-Plan Your Work

When you have a plan, you know where you are heading. But if you don’t, then you will start one task and jump to another and then go back to the former and at the end you won’t be able to finish anything.

First thing in the morning when you sit on your desk spare 30 min to arrange your tasks for the day. Follow up with unfinished tasks from the previous day and prioritize urgent tasks.

Also identify your peak time during the day, and keep this time for tasks that require more energy and focus. This varies from one person to another, all you have to do is find your high-focus and low-focus time and allocate tasks accordingly. You will see the positive effect of how this method can increase your productivity right away.

4-Take A Warm Bath Before Sleep

It is highly recommended to take care of yourself, and develop your own rituals. For some people, a morning shower is an energy booster, others prefer a night bath. Do what makes you feel better. I recommend a night bath because it helps you to wind down after a long day.

Try also adding some tea, soft music, or 5 minutes meditation to your night ritual. 🙂

These practices help your mind relax and have better sleep at night. Which definitely will reflect on how much productive you will be the next day.

5-Take Regular Breaks

You can work with full concentration only for around 1 hour, after that you start to lose your focus. And the best way to get your focus back is to move your body, take five minutes every one hour, talk with a colleague, look from the window, walk around, get coffee.

Stick to only five minutes, if you make it longer you will lose track of what you were working on. This will affect your productivity in a negative way. You won’t increase your productivity you will only lose your focus.

These regular breaks help you remain productive and joyful. However don’t use them to text or open social media apps. They will drag you to spend more than five minutes and also will worry your mind with irrelative issues.

6-Cool Off Your Mind With A Walk

Do this at least once a week during work days. Walking without talking and focusing on the physical practice of walking itself is considered to be a good meditation’s methods. That is to say, if you don’t like meditation, it’s ok! walking will give you same results.

I knew a girl who used to come to work by walking, it took her 45 minutes. And it might seem bizarre but she was full of energy and good vibes. Once she told me that she started doing this because she was going through a negative period and she started walking daily. She was in a situation where she didn’t know what else to do. But shortly after she started this habit she noticed how her mind quit thinking and she started to feel more calm and energetic.

This is why I tried it as well, but I couldn’t walk this much, so I found another solution. Instead of taking the metro from the station close to my home I walked until the next station which took me only 20 min and then I took the metro from there. And let me tell you this; after a few days it felt perfectly perfect!

Now you don’t have to go walking to work, and I can assume that this option is not available always. But the idea is that try to find a way to walk whenever you can. Implant this practice in your life and I assure you you will see amazing return on your productivity level.

7-Give Some Time To Family Or Close People

In this TED video: What makes a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness.

He explains that one of the top reasons that boost our health and mood and make us feel more in peace is healthy relationships.

It doesn’t matter how busy you are, you must find a few minutes to talk with people who matter in your life. Distance creates cold feelings and if there are already some conflicts, then lack of talking will create a bigger gap.

You might not see how this is affecting your daily life and even your energy and productivity. You think these issues just settled at the back of your head and are not affecting your day to day life.

Let me tell you that you are totally mistaken.

Keeping warm relationships, increasing your bonds and the quality of connections in your life, will make you feel subconsciously better and more in peace which will help you to be more productive generally in your life.

8-Stop Overthinking

Thinking over and over and worrying won’t solve whatever the issue is. It will only steal your peace of mind. And I’m pretty sure you have heard this already so many times until now. Still, preventing our minds from thinking doesn’t seem a doable thing.

Whenever you feel you are falling in the trap of repeating different scenarios and thinking of solutions, try to distract yourself. Make a phone call. Breathe deeply, take a walk even if it is around your kitchen, make a small quick meal, move around the office and talk with your colleagues.

Time after time, it will become a habit and you will be more able to block out any negativity coming from overthinking that is damaging your productivity and peace.

Many ask how to be more productive or how to stay productive everyday. With these practices you will increase your well-being and gain more peace into your life which will help be more productive in a nourishing way!
